Motivational Quotes About Reading

Reading Poster - Reading is your Ticket to Everywhere

Reading Poster – Reading is Your Ticket to Everywhere

Possible Idea for Use:

Wall displays become ‘invisible’ pretty quickly in classrooms unless they are revisited, celebrated, discussed & reflected upon. Simply sticking a poster on the wall without introducing it and inviting comments means is just a ‘pretty’ just decoration.

Ask the students to reflect in pairs on what this quote could possibly mean and why their teacher has chosen to display it on the wall. You might like to record the responses but sometimes simply talking about something is a lesson in itself.

Possible Places We Could Go:

  • Countries, Cultures & Environments – Learn about another part of the world #lowhangingfruit 😉
  • The World Around You – What is that bird? What is that plant or tree? Why do we do this? etc
  • Periods of History – So many places to go. In pairs have students as ‘I wonder…’ questions about history.
  • Fantasy and Dystopian worlds
  • Possible Career Paths – learn about finance, fire fighting, or being a pilot, etc – explore the students’ interests
  • How to – cook a certain dish, build a certain thing, create a …
  • Being well-informed can take you places. How?
  • Your Inner World – What might this mean? Think psychology, self-help, emotion, motivation, the developing person through the lifespan etc
  • See into the life stories of others – See life through their eyes – It is thought around 117 billion people have lived on Earth throughout history. Many of them have written.
  • Entertainment – Use reading to help you to go to your ‘Happy Place’. What might this mean?

When you open up this discussion it can lead to many interesting viewpoints being expressed. Remember to share what this quote means to you as well.
